HistoryInternationalization
Drilling tunnels in the Andes Mountains at -18ºC (-0 ºF) and facing earth tremors up to 30 times per day. Constructing a hydroelectric power plant amidst national conflicts in Angola. These were some of the challenges assumed by Odebrecht when it decided to internationalize its activities in 1979. Since its foundation, the organization has passed through 35 countries on four continents.
America

Odebrecht’s international operations began in 1979 with countries around the Brazilian territory, such as Peru and Chile. It was not long before other regions of America would display the construction company’s work.

Europe

In 1988, Odebrecht assumed the challenge of operating in Europe when it acquired the Portuguese company José Bento Pedroso & Filhos, renamed Bento Pedroso Construções (BPC). Its activities on the continent were important for consolidating the construction company’s credibility among the group of developed countries.
