The 1987 album Tom Jobim presents the life and work of one of the members of a generation that opened new paths for MPB (or “Brazilian Popular Music”). Launched in 1987, the edition celebrated 60 years of the composer and maestro Antônio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994).
Enriched by significant iconographic documentation, this tribute to Tom Jobim also constitutes the portrait of a generation that stood out in the history of Brazilian Popular Music.
Published in two languages (Portuguese / English), Tom Jobim includes two records with 23 songs that the musician selected and interpreted with his band. The texts are by journalist Sérgio Cabral and the preface is by Dorival Caymmi, long-time friend of the singer and composer.
In 1995, the album earned a second edition with the records re-launched on two CDs.
