Brazilian sports received some good news on June 8 at the Paralympic Training Center facilities in São Paulo: Braskem's renewal of another four years of sponsorship for the Brazilian Parathletics Team. It is the largest private sponsorship in Brazilian Paralympic Committee history.

The partnership began in 2015 and was renewed until 2021. During the next cycle, the funds will benefit 44 athletes and 17 guides who are part of the Brazilian team, offering support for the competitors' development and technical training. "We have maintained our support because we believe this is a transforming opportunity for Parathletes and an inspiring example for society," emphasized Marcelo Arantes, responsible por Entrepreneurial Support of People, Communication, Marketing, and Sustainable Development at Braskem.

“We believe in human beings' ability to overcome challenges and these athletes are an example of this," said Arantes, who also pointed out how chemistry and plastic can improve athletes' lives through prostheses.

During the event, there was the announcement of the 25 Parathletes who will represent Brazil during the International Championship, to be held in London in July. For Mizael Conrado, Chairman of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, the renewal of support by the petrochemical company will be crucial for the athletes' continuous progress. “The partnership with Braskem already brought us great results during the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and will be essential for this campaign as we head toward Tokyo 2020," he said.

Besides the International Championship, the Brazilian Parathletics Team will also compete in the Para-South American Games (2018), Para-Pan American Games (2019), World Sports Category Championship (2019), and Tokyo Paralympic Games (2020).
