The concessionaire Rota das Bandeiras in São Paulo state received at its headquarters in Itatiba a group of approximately 40 students from the Nursing program at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Students in the second to fifth years of the undergraduate program participated in a summer program focusing on Prehospital Care.

During the visit, the students learned about the medical priority dispatch process, activating emergency response teams via the monitoring cameras of the Operations Control Center (CCO) and answering calls to the toll-free number. They also received a practical class to experience what the emergency response professionals at the concessionaire Odebrecht TransPort deal with on a daily basis on Dom Pedro Highway in order to extract victims and transport users with injuries.

“It’s a great opportunity for these students. The university’s undergraduate program does not have a course focusing on this type of care, at the scene of an accident. That’s what motivated us to create this summer course,” said professor Cleuza Vedovato, one of the program’s creators and the author of a master’s thesis that assessed medical care on highways.

The visit is part of the program Rotas Abertas sponsored by the concessionaire to showcase their work to the community. In other opportunities, students from engineering programs, vocational programs and public schools also visited the headquarters. The dynamic of the visit varies based on the visitors’ field of study.

Rota das Bandeiras is a company of Odebrecht Rodovias, which consolidates the highway concession investments of Odebrecht TransPort. Odebrecht TransPort develops, implements and operates projects in the areas of urban mobility, ports, airports and integrated logistics systems.
