Braskem, the largest petrochemical company in the Americas and the world leader in the production of biopolymers, in partnership with Endeavor, global non-profit organization which promotes entrepreneurship, announces the second edition of its program of encouragement to entrepreneurs who have sustainability- and innovation-guided solutions, the Braskem Labs. Entrepreneurs interested in participating should register their projects between April 11 and May 15 on the website www.braskemlabs.com.
The edition of this year is more comprehensive compared to 2015’s. In addition to the proposals that use plastic for the development of social and environmental solutions, chemistry projects can also be registered. Especially this year, a category for fighting the Aedes aegypti insect will be open – projects related to this subject are not required to be related to chemistry or plastic.
“After the success of last year, we have decided to broaden the program to chemical advances. We want to transform innovative projects into feasible solutions that can improve the life of people", says Patrick Teyssonneyre, Braskem Chief of Technology and Innovation. “We also want to use the platform to strengthen our commitment to the society; stimulating the introduction of ideas that help reducing the incidence of the diseases chikungunya, zika and dengue. And the best way to accomplish this target is by fighting the vector insect through innovative solutions", he adds.
In all, up to ten projects in the areas of chemistry or plastic that generate social impact in segments as health, housing and mobility will be selected, and up to two projects related to fighting Aedes aegypti. The entrepreneurs will have four months of training with availability of content, online courses, live events and collective and individual tutoring with Braskem and Endeavor tutors; and will participate in Boot Camp, a two-day training focused on the pitch, clear and concise presentation of the proposal. Those selected people will be monitored by the executives of Braskem and will be guided by the expert guides from Endeavor, a partner and one of the most important organizations in encouraging to entrepreneurship in the world.
By the end of the program, the selected people will present their projects during the Demo Day for a group of entrepreneurs, investors, investment banks and other market players.
In the first edition of Braskem Labs, 159 proposals from all regions of the country were registered, with emphasis to the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro, with 19 selected projects. Among them, 10 projects have been traded since then and six companies have set partnerships with Braskem.
“Braskem Labs is an opportunity to broaden the participation of Endeavor together with the business with high potential for the generation of employment. Supported by Braskem and its expertise, we have the chance to provide training and qualification to accelerate the growth of companies which, in addition to being a highlight, are making a difference regarding chemical and plastic”, says Igor Piquet, Endeavor Entrepreneur Support coordinator.
